CSN: Eagles refute report Reid decision is made

December 30, 2012, 3:40 pm

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Everyone expects Eagles coach Andy Reid to be fired after Sunday?s game against the Giants.

Has the decision already come down from above?

One report from the Delaware County Times surfaced this afternoon that Reid will be fired Monday morning, which is what many news outlets have speculated for several weeks and seems like the most convenient time for owner Jeffrey Lurie to part ways with the longtime coach.

Two high-ranking officials for the Eagles downplayed the report to CSNPhilly.com and said no official decision has been made or is ready to be announced.

Team owner Jeffrey Lurie said in August that he needed to see substantial improvement from last year?s 8-8 mark in order for Reid to earn a contract extension, but the Eagles missed the postseason for the second straight year. Reid is signed through 2013 but has never coached in a lame duck season.

Reid typically gives his exit interviews on the Monday after the season finale if the Eagles are out of the playoffs and the locker room is usually open to the media for a few hours in the afternoon.

Given the uncertainty of Reid?s job status, the team?s public relations staff has not yet announced Monday?s media schedule.
