Stingrays win in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS ? The Staten Island Stingrays went with a deliberate offense and a dominant defense to pull out a 37-35 opening-pool victory over the Texas Bayou Elite in the Big Foot Vegas Classic AAU 14s Tournament on Wednesday.
The Stingrays play the Colorado AAU All Stars in their next pool game on Thursday.

Arianna Smith (11 points), Megan Rafferty (10) and Taylor Waglione (eight) led Our Lady Queen of Peace to a 50-25 triumph over St. Christopher?s in a CYO Summer League girls? 8th grade contest.
St. Charles? 7th-grade boys downed Our Lady Help of Christians 64-44 behind the combined 36 of Chris Clancy, Jordan Kearney and Pat Daddio. St. Charles also posted a 54-34 win over Our Lady Queen of Peace.
Phineas Larson?s four points helped Holy Family to an 8-0 4th grade win over Our Lady Help of Christians.
Isabella Font led St. Ann?s to an 11-5 decision over St. Teresa?s in 4th/5th grade action.

In an OLSS Summer League girls? Liberty contest, Cassie O?Friel and Samantha Renna paced OLSS past OLGC 8-6.
Ian Hachemeister scored 11 points and Ryan Manuelian added seven as Sacred Heart bested St. Charles 28-14 in a boys? Jazz division (5th grade) game.
Jack Lotito?s 17 points powered Sacred Heart to a 31-26 triumph over the N.J. Shamrocks in boys? Magic division (6th grade) action.
Logan Daly, Anthony Graziano and Christian Greeley combined for 18 points as St. Clare?s defeated Holy Child 18-11 in Grizzly play.

Cadets advance
SURPRISE, Ariz. ? B.J. LoCascio tossed a four-hitter as the S.I. Cadets advanced to Thursday?s double-elimination round of the AABC World Series with a 9-1 victory over Team Oklahoma. John Imbancani (four RBI) and Andrew May (two RBI) each went 2 for 4 in the win.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. ? The S.I. Aces Blue won twice to advance to single-elimination pool play on Thursday at the AABC Nolan Ryan 13s World Series.
In a 4-3 victory over North Bergen (NJ), Anthony Costanza tied the game at 3 with a two-run double in the seventh, then scored the winning run after doubling and stealing a base in the eighth.
In an 8-7 triumph over the Macomb (Mich.) Wildcats, the Aces Blue rallied from a 7-4 deficit with a four-run bottom of the seventh. Joe DiFrancesca hit his second two-run double of the game in the uprising and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Chris Nico pitched a complete game and Christopher Miniaci paced the offense as host Mid-Island defeated East Shore 9-2 in the third round of the Nonna?s Pizza Senior Minor Tournament.
The Great Kills National bested the GK International 6-4. Anthony Messina threw four scoreless innings. Keith McCormack, John Raimonda, James Talentio and Ryan McGovern stroked RBI hits.

Hector Rivera struck out six and went 5 for 5 to power the Cassiliano Boys to a 14-10 victory over ShopRite in East Shore LL Senior play. Nelson Ramos (2 for 3, three RBI) and Chris Cuevas (4 for 4) also starred.

T.J. DiGiacomo slugged a three-run homer and Nick Cippoletti a solo HR as the New York Dynasty tripled South Shore 9-3 to win the Cal Ripken state 11s championship. MVP Charles Marchica tossed five innings for the Dynasty, which travels to Tuckahoe, N.Y. on Aug. 2 for the Cal Ripken Regionals. ?
